Job description

👋 About us

Everday is building the future of workforce intelligence. Our AI-powered platform helps companies align talent with strategy—unlocking productivity, reducing cost, and driving retention through skills-based insight.

We’re a lean team entering a critical phase: product-market fit. Our platform is launching, and we’re hiring our First Engineering Hire to join us. If you’re passionate about building high-impact tools, and want to work closely on product and technology, this is a rare chance to help shape something meaningful from the ground up.

Why this role exists

As our First Engineering Hire, you’ll work side-by-side with the CTO to bring the Everday product to life. You'll help build, ship, and improve core features while ensuring our technical foundation is strong and scalable.

This is a hands-on role focused on building, problem-solving, and delivering value to early users. It’s a unique opportunity to join early, have real product impact, and grow with the company.

(Note: This is not a founder or management role—yet there's room to grow into seniority and leadership as we scale.)

What you’ll do

🛠️ Product development & engineering

  • Develop new features across our stack, from front-end UI to back-end logic.

  • Contribute to early architecture decisions and help keep tech debt low.

  • Collaborate closely with the CTO on sprint planning, coding, testing, and code review.

  • Support integration of LLMs and other AI capabilities into the platform.

⚙️ Technical support & internal tooling

  • Improve workflows and tooling to make development and onboarding faster.

  • Help set up and maintain infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Troubleshoot issues and proactively improve performance, reliability, and stability.

  • Offer feedback on product, UX, and customer use-cases from an engineering perspective.

  • Contribute to clean, well-documented code with an eye for detail and user experience.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in full-stack roles, ideally in startups or fast-moving environments.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and owning delivery.

  • Strong technical foundation in React, TypeScript, tRPC, Next.js, NestJS, and associated tooling.

  • Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (e.g., Vercel, Supabase, Clerk, Railway).

  • Pragmatic, collaborative, and driven to ship value quickly and iteratively.

  • Clear communicator who shares early, asks the right questions, and explains trade-offs well.

  • Detail-oriented and quality-minded—cares about polish, performance, and clean code.

  • Curious and resourceful—uses AI tools to move faster, validate ideas, and stay focused on impact.

💡 Bonus if you bring:

  • Experience working on early-stage SaaS or AI-driven products.

  • A GitHub portfolio, side project, or work example to share.

  • Passion for clean, simple, usable software.

  • A healthy respect for snacks, memes, and good code comments.

Why Everday?

  • Build something new and important—right from the start.

  • Collaborate directly with experienced founders on a high-growth path.

  • Get deep exposure to product, AI, and startup life.

  • Influence our tech stack, workflows, and engineering culture from the ground up.

  • Potential to grow into Lead Engineer or early leadership roles as the company scales.

This role is for Everday, a Builders portfolio company. Hiring is managed by the Everday team.
