Job description

Builders is a startup studio. We co-found new technology companies together with experienced and ambitious talent. Our startup founders transform unique ideas and startups into strong, independent and growing companies. Thanks to the benefits of our studio services, resources and extensive network, founders can truly focus on execution and growth.

Our companies are founded by two founders, a business and a technical founder. Then, our team acts as a third founder:

  • 🎯 As a business founder, you'll be leading one of our validated ideas to a thriving company by focussing on defining and building out the brand, network, product and team.
  • 🦾 As a technical founder, you'll be leading the development of the first version of the software by focussing on building out the product, infrastructure and team.

Your role as a founder 🗣

You will use our blueprint to build, measure, learn and pivot your way to a profitable and thriving company. This does not mean everything is set in stone because our founders will need to put their own stamp on everything they're doing. Later, you'll assemble a dedicated team and define a unique company culture.

🎯 Some business founder activities include:

  • Business development;
  • Team and product management;
  • Key account management;
  • Scaling and optimising operations;
  • Building a culture for growth;
  • Strategic planning;
  • Fundraising.

🦾 Some technical founder activities include:

  • Design and build the technical blueprint of the company;
  • Building the (cloud) infrastructure;
  • Product development;
  • Managing every technical detail;
  • Build and hire a development team;
  • Scaling the operation.

Of course, there is more to do, but you don’t have to do it all by yourself. You'll be accompanied by a co-founder to take on this great challenge. Also, our studio team is available to support you during the first rough months.


🎯 What we value in a founder profile:

  • You have a passion for entrepreneurship (you’ll know if you do).
  • You have a good understanding of startups and the startup ecosystem.
  • You are a problem-solver, a proactive strategic thinker and a pragmatist.
  • You can formulate a strategy, translate it into actions and execute or delegate.
  • You know how to deal with c-level management and boards.
  • You have managed a team before and know how to coach people.
  • You have unbounded energy.

🦾 What we value in a technical profile:

  • You have full-stack development experience (i.e. front-end and back-end).
  • You are experienced with online SaaS and/or mobile projects in PHP, Javascript and SQL (Symfony and React is a big plus).
  • You are experienced in developing, testing, shipping and maintaining SaaS products under pressure.
  • You are a front-runner in experimenting with new technologies and you contribute to open source projects.

Hard requirements

  • You have a European passport or a valid long-term visa for The Netherlands.
  • You have 5+ years of professional experience and preferably some international exposure.
  • You have previously gained c-level experience at a startup or scale-up.
  • You are fluent in English, Dutch is a plus.
